International Affairs
As a professional network we believe in learning and improving practice through collaboration, as well as sharing best practice with other countries throughout Europe and the world.
Our main collaborations currently centres around the following bodies:
The Federation of Horses in Education and Therapy international (HETI) is an international organisation, promoting collaboration between a broad range of organisations involved in equine assisted activities and therapies. They have a mission to help provide a platform for both networking and the pursuit of scientific progress by hosting an international congress every 4 years. ACPEA have had representatives at this congress for over 20 years. We are also involved in quarterly conferences held by HETI UK, and regularly contribute to these.
ACPEA are also collaborators in the European Equine facilitated Therapy Network (EEFTN). This is a new group set up in 2019. This group is specifically interested in sharing best practice in the field of equine facilitated therapy and has representatives from all over Europe, who all have backgrounds in physiotherapy or occupational therapy. This group meets regularly to discuss terminology, research and education, as well as improving practice through case studies and open discussion.
