Hendelah Waley Equestrian Fund Applications for 2023

The Hendelah Waley Equestrian Fund offers grants to one or two physiotherapists to complete the Hippotherapy Course, which is now run by Ulster University. The next Course begins in April 2023. 

The Hendelah Waley Equestrian Fund (a Registered Charity) was set up 38 years ago by Ann (a retired physiotherapist) and her husband Simon Waley after their daughter, Hendelah, tragically died in an accident. Hendelah was a keen rider and the fund gives support to people wanting to improve their equestrian skills and knowledge with a view to making a career with a horse involvement.

In recent years the fund has sponsored seven physiotherapists from different parts of the country to complete the Therapeutic Riding/Hippotherapy Course.

In 2023 the fund would like to sponsor two further physiotherapists to do the course and hopes to find some suitable candidates.

Applications are welcome from physiotherapists who have been qualified for three years or longer, who do not have the financial means for paying for this training themselves. A background in working with children and experience with horses and riding is preferred.
