This session will introduce ideas from a model of human behaviour change and then an evidence based intervention that are now being used with success within the animal health and welfare world. The Stages of Change Model looks at different stages that people go through when considering and making change. This presentation will give a brief outline and some ideas about how workers can respond to people in the different stages.
The evidence based intervention called Motivational Interviewing will then be introduced. This is a recognised and well researched method of communication to support people to consider and to make changes.
