Hippotherapy at Rocking Horse Physiotherapy/ Rachel Shaw
HCPC No: PH41135
Overview
Hippotherapy at Rocking Horse Physiotherapy is owned and led by Rachel Shaw and supported by Rossington Hall Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) Group. She qualified as a physiotherapist in 1989 and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). For over twenty years Rachel has specialised in the treatment of children with developmental difficulties whilst working within the NHS. She has been responsible for the physiotherapy service in a local special school and in other community settings but has continued working with adults too. Rachel completed her hippotherapy training February 2016 and has had her own horses for over fifteen years.
Since 2019 Rachel has worked as an independent practitioner providing specialist physiotherapy services at the same special school and developing her hippotherapy practice. Rachel emphasises having fun and enjoying therapy sessions whilst working towards functional goals.
Hippotherapy sessions take place in an airy, well presented indoor riding school so no concerns about the British weather. As RDA premises the supporting staff and horses are highly experienced and knowledgeable and know their job. Access to the premises is flat and level with ample parking and toilet facilities. The site is shared with The National Horseracing College but is quiet and calm, set in the beautiful grounds of Rossington Hall and is easy to access from the M1, M18, M62 and A1, just off the main road between Doncaster and Bawtry (A638).
