HETI Headlines April 2025
Please see the below from HETI - copied from HETI’s recent email newsletter.
Welcome to our April issue of the HETI Headlines. This past month, HETI had a fantastic webinar with Dr. Celia Grummitt on the medical model in nature based therapy and a HETI Live facilitated by HETI Vice President, Alexandra Stergiou looking at equestrian sports in EAS. We also published the 2025 issue of the HETI Journal: International Research and Practice.
As always, we've had plenty of task force meetings and collaboration meetings. It is so important to be able to connect with our members and other organisations with similar missions to HETI. We're stronger together!
This month, we also launched the Latin American Network with over 100 people registered. We're so grateful to former EC member, Gustavo Dos Santos and former HETI Vice-President, Vera Horne who are co-ordinating this network.
As always, if you have any feedback or questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch,
With warm regards,
Kirstin O'Neill
HETI Executive Director/Secretary
HETI Connects
Connection and collaboration is at the heart of HETI. We know that in order for improvements to be made in the EAS sector, we need to work together. That's why HETI seeks to connect and collaborate with international organisations like IAHAIO and HHRF.
On a monthly basis, HETI meets with the Horses and Humans Research Foundation (HHRF) to collaborate and brainstorm on different projects so that we can continue to increase knowledge, share best practices and improve research.
This month, HETI also met with IAHAIO director, Jo-Ann Fowler and President, Marie-Jose Enders-Slegers, to reconnect and look at ways our organisations could collaborate. We are excited to explore opportunities to share each other's work and provide resources for our members.
IAHAIO is the global association of organizations that engage in practice, research and/or education in animal assisted activity, animal assisted therapy, and service animal training. HETI EC member, Laurence Ikan, will be presenting at their upcoming conference in Amsterdam on 23rd-24th August. Registration for the conference is open now and HETI members can avail of a special discount code by logging into the member's area of the HETI website.

We are delighted to welcome Nicolas Emond (France), as the chair of the International Participation task force. We are currently seeking HETI Ambassadors (English native language, and English as second language) to join our task force. Their main role will be:
to facilitate access to HETI in 8 languages (Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, Portugese, Russian, French, English native language, and English as second language)
to reach new countries and new members
to be the bridge between non-english speaking people/countries and HETI
to create and support communities of members to exchange and work with HETI's framework in their native language

As we continue to work on our strategic plan, we would love to hear your feedback! Please contact the HETI office to share your thoughts.
